So what has been going on since last I blogged? Several things, some good, some bad, and some well, ugly...Lets start with a little bit of the good, and it has been slim recently...The good was that last Friday night while it peacefully stormed, I made some amazing chocolate chip cookies! I also recently started a new cross stitch, a birth record for a friend of mine who was blessed with a new baby girl. Last Saturday I also saw The Hangover 2 for the second time. The final good thing is that Wednesday my boyfriend Chris came back, yay.
Now to the bad...Well little did I know while I baked my cookies and listened to the soft sound of thunder and pitter patter of rain on the window and roof, that disaster was near to striking...I went to bed that night excited for the next days festivities, which was Grierson Days! While I slept though, the rain continued, and early on Saturday morning my mom came up and woke me...The horrible news dropped then and there while I tried to wipe the sleep from my eyes, Grierson Days had been cancelled due to flooding...I thought it was a joke at first...When I realized it was not a joke, I started to cry...Not only for the missed festivities, and the inability to buy my new hat, I was crying most for missing the friends I had so dearly wanted to see...Dad was little support, he seemed to be grumbling about me being so upset about the cancellation, and though mom had invited me to go to breakfast that morning, I didn't have the heart to deal with my dad...I went out to see my poor drowned out friends at the park, and saw the flooding! The overpass that is the main thoroughfare into our city, which has a height of 14 feet had at least 10 feet of water! I'd never seen that flood that badly! Many of the ways out of town were blocked, as well as several other streets...One of the trailer parks was flooded out, and so was our water treatment plant...More poo heaped on us...We were under a boil order and asked to conserve water...We started not flushing unless it was necessary, taking incredibly short showers, and drinking bottled water I went to get from the store...We are STILL under that boil order/water conservation...Its going on a week and my hair and body are miserable! I can't wait for a nice hot bubble bath! My sister was visiting that day though, and to make things better she took me to see The Hangover 2 again, and we then went to look at the water, which had gone down insanely!
As my friends may know, my boyfriend hasn't been able to be around for about 4 weeks, well hadn't been able to. He made his reappearance Wednesday but things have been touch and go...He would be bothered by something, which would then bother me to the point of anger, and its just continued into today...Sometimes I just feel a bit off...
Tonight we had something weird happen at the house. We believe we have two ghosts, two females, one who lived on the land our house was built on named Chastity, and one who lived in our house named Deborah. I speak with them through dowsing rods and they both said, if I remember right, that they liked cats, good thing since we have so many! Anyway, tonight Cleo our little gray cat who doesn't much like her brother Boots was walking to the landing of the stairs that lead to the second floor of our house. I could not see ANYTHING on that landing or the stairs, but Cleo must have...She walked up two steps, jumped back suddenly, and REFUSED to approach the landing...I picked her up to carry her upstairs, she stiffened her little body and squirmed, and when I stepped up on the landing she nearly jumped from her skin! I have the claw marks to prove it...She continued to be tense and afraid until I got her upstairs to my parents room where she was happy to jump onto the bed. This has never happened before, and I had the undeniable feeling that who she saw was Deborah, don't ask me why, but it just seemed to be Deborah...Also tonight I've felt very off...As though something were behind me watching, but of course when I turn nothing is there...I suppose I opened myself up to this, I gave them permission to slowly appear, talk, and move some things. They said through the dowsing rods that they chose not to do these things because it scared me.
Last but not least! I was able to weed in the garden a bit today! The last few days have felt more like the first days of spring than the first days of summer! We were even able to keep the windows open nearly 48 hours! It was GLORIOUS! I couldn't get all the little weeds out, but the worst weeds or biggest ones are gone, and the sunflower population has been cut back a bit. Hopefully soon when the garden isn't embarrassing, I'll post some pictures.
I think that's all...I'll update you all later when something fun comes my way!
Love,
Christina
I have been hoping you would post an update! I have missed your posts this past week. I can't believe it was just one week ago David and I and Peter were headed down to Jacksonville for Grierson Days. That was certainly a bad trick of fate to play on us. :( I hope your boil order gets lifted soon. I would have hoped it would have been lifted by now.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you had ghosts on your property! Wow, sounds like there some definitely something going on last night. Does this happen often?
I know I was so disappointed! Of course after it was cancelled, the sun came out all afternoon and just wiggled its tongue out at me like, "Nah nah na boo boo!"
ReplyDeleteStrange things happen sometimes...We thought we had some visitors before, and when we pulled carpet up we even informed them of our intentions so they wouldn't feel violated or upset. I became more certain after we went to Hannibal Missouri and went on the Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tour, the other blog I've linked to! We used dowsing rods in the cemetery, and the leader of that group thought I was sensitive. I was intrigued by the answers I got to questions posed with dowsing rods, so I made some for myself at home and started chatting with our ghosts! We have two, Chastity Dawson, and Deborah. Chastity was the one who lived on the land our house was built on, and Deborah lived and died in our house, in my room to be exact...Well that is according to them! We've had things disappear and reappear before but nothing as wild as last night!
I have to split these up Ms. Sarah!
ReplyDeleteOne night, this was the first REAL experience I had in this house, I was sitting in the kitchen. I'll try to draw a picture with words here. When you enter our house, you enter into a foyer, and at the end of that foyer along the back wall is the doorway to the kitchen, in the little alcove of the doorway there is the door to the basement on the left, and another little doorway that leads to the kitchen. I was in the kitchen and heard a noise, like something had dropped, I went to investigate and found a small plastic bottle cap laying on the floor in front of the basement door in the little area between the doorways. My first thought was a cat had knocked it from the piano, which faces the back wall of the foyer right next to the doorway to the kitchen. I went to investigate, and there was no cat on the piano...What was stranger is that we hadn't had bottles of soda with those caps for MONTHS! I also tried to knock the cap from the piano into the doorway but it was impossible! It was as though someone had stood, and dropped it...
Another time, here's another picture! In our foyer we have a sliding door, actually there are two sliding doors that cut the living room off, one is in the foyer, the other in the dining room. Before we had the laptop, I used our desktop computer, situated in the foyer, and I would close that sliding door because my parents would watch mom's soap operas in the living room and I didn't want to disturb them with my computing, and in turn I didn't want to hear the soaps. Again I was in the kitchen, and I could SWEAR I saw someone turn and enter the living room, I thought it was my mom so I said, "Hey mom." turned to go into the living room, and was hit with the sliding door being closed...Those doors make noise when they open and it takes some effort to close that door but I hadn't heard anything...I also believe mom was still in her chair...After that encounter, probably years after that last one...I was up in the attic with my dowsing rods trying to find something, I left the rods up there and returned about a week later to get them. I gave the entire attic a once over and couldn't find the rods to save my life! I then said, "Where are those darn rods!" Immediately after I turned and saw them sitting on a box in plain sight...
ReplyDeleteLast night I didn't sleep well...A few days ago I gave our friends permission to show up, slowly appear, move things, or talk if they wished, I asked that they NOT touch me because that was just something I wasn't ready for. They told me in the past they didn't do those things because they knew it bothered me. Anyway, all last night I felt off, almost as though the air was electrified, I felt someone watching me but when I turned I saw nothing, I swore I saw something white a few times, and when I walked from the kitchen to the living room, I thought I saw something flash across the desktop monitor...The monitor was off, and I could see my moms table lamp in the monitor, so I thought it was my shadow, I tried to debunk it four or five times but I couldn't get it to work...Last night as well when I went to bed, I thought I saw someone in gray in my doorway, and felt that tell tale "someone's watching" feeling...Needless to say I didn't sleep too well...
